Your pet is part of your family and the more informed you are, the better you can ensure your pet's well being and happiness. The following links provide helpful information on health and behavior issues that may be occurring as well as insights as to how to help.

Note that each of these links will take you to a website outside of LHS, and will open in a new browser window, so that you may easily return to the LHS site.

PIRC (Pet Information and Resource Center) was compiled for the benefit of companion animals and concerned individuals in Louisa County and neighboring areas. We hope to promote the use of this site as an information clearinghouse for those seeking information about how to care for their animals, what to do about stray and ill-tended animals, and to learn about a host of other issues relating to animal welfare and living well in the company of animals. This resource does not attempt to replicate the wide array of information available on the internet. Rather we aim to list local resources and to organize easy access to web information relevant specifically to residents of central Virginia.
